CHOIR PRACTICE BEGINS THIS WEEK Thursday 7.30pm

You are invited to join the choir that will perform two items and support community singing of well-known Christmas Carols at the annual Nine Lessons and Carols to be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 95 Commercial Road Yarram,

Sunday 17^th December 7.30pm.

Rehearsals commence Thursday 16^th November 7.30pm at Holy Trinity. Your leader is Mr Ken White. Your commitment will be five weeks of rehearsals and the performance. There will also be a rehearsal prior to the performance.

CHRIST THE KING – Evening Prayer Sunday 26^th November 4.00pm at Christ Church, Tarraville followed by sparkling refreshments

ADVENT FOR ALL – a special event at Holy Trinity, Yarram

Sunday 3^rd December 10.30am this is an opportunity for us engage with some of the traditions of Advent as we prepare and worship together.

This year Holy Trinity, Yarram is trying something a bit different to get ready for Christmas. On Sunday 3^rd December at our 10.30am service you are invited to join us as we get together to prepare for the season by making and doing things together. You might like to help decorate our Advent Wreath, or make a decoration for the Anglicare Giving Tree or learn a Song for the Season or make a Gratitude Tree, or maybe you would like to make a Take-home Advent Wreath. These things will form the first part of our gathering and then we will join together for a simple time of worship. Later there will be the opportunity for morning tea together.

We hope that this event ‘Advent for All’ will be a way for everyone, the young and the young at heart to enjoy a time of creativity, worship and fellowship.

An Eye on the Past – Professor Geoffrey Blainey AC historian, academic, and commentator will be guest speaker at An Afternoon Tea Meeting Saturday 9^th December 4.30pm Port Albert Community Hall, Victoria Street Port Albert. The Rt Rev’d Kay Goldsworthy AO will also be a guest so this is an opportunity to say goodbye to our bishop before she puts down her pastoral staff on 16^th December. This event is being presented by The Friends of St John’s Inc. $10.00 per ticket, students free

Lenten Studies – This year’s study will be Up from the Waters Reflections for Lent Year A by Fr Tony Chiera and Dr Jason McFarland $10.00 for study booklets from your Bible Study Leader or purchase a book to study privately.

Please order you book and indicate your preferred group for study using the forms at church.

HELPING OUT at HOLY TRINITY

Serving God with Glad Hearts – There a number of tasks that get done week by week by our guilds including: reading the Scriptures, assisting with the power point presentation, providing hospitality after worship, welcoming, flowers and cleaning

JUNE – MONTH OF PRAYER

Silent Prayer - You are invited to arrive at church early and join others for a time of silent prayer. At Holy Trinity this will occur from 10.00am near the prayer candle. At St John’s this will occur during the 9.00am service.
Prayer Requests - There is a box with paper and a pen in the foyer at both Holy Trinity and St John’s for you to leave any prayer requests.
Commit to a time of Prayer - You might like to sign up to a time of daily prayer by promising to pray at home or with others at an agreed time. A sheet is available for you to register your commitment. Reverend Jo will be saying Morning Prayer at Holy Trinity from 9.00am most mornings.

Pray for – We have a number of people who are currently in hospital or at home following surgery. Pray for a swift recovery. Others are travelling to warmer climes at this time of the year. Pray for travelling mercies.

We have prisoners from Fulham working at Christ Church. Pray for the work being undertaken there and for prison chaplain The Reverend Heather Toms.

SOCKS AND JOCKS in July

We are collecting new white socks and black socks as well as underpants for girls and boys aged 13 -18. Please drop your donations into the washing basket at Holy Trinity. We will present these on Sunday 31^st July at Holy Trinity Yarram 10.30 service.

Socks and Jocks –

Over the next few weeks please bring along donations of new underwear and personal hygiene products for Student Welfare at Yarram Secondary College.

Seafarers Sunday 10.30am 19^th July at St John’s followed by soup and rolls 12 noon in Port Albert Community Hall. You are invited

Mission Giving 5% of total income to BCA and Anglican Aid Abroad; next month we begin giving to CMS.

Training Sessions – would you like to join the group of people who read the Bible in church or welcome everyone, count the offering, help at the altar or press the button for our power point? Training begins Sunday 28 June following service at Holy Trinity and 5 July at St John’s. See Reverend Jo if you are interested

Prayer Tutorials begin in July following 10.30am services at Holy Trinity and St John’s. Our first topic will be The Anglican Prayer Book a resource for daily prayer.

 Anniversary of the death of Bishop John

6th June marks the anniversary of the passing of Bishop John. Sunday 7th June we will include prayers in memory of Bishop John at both Holy Trinity and St John's. Our retiring offering will support the John McIntyre Centre at the Abbey Raymond Island www.theabbey.org.au  and The Diocesan Aboriginal Ministry Fund.
