ADVENT
FOR ALL – a special event at Holy Trinity, Yarram
Sunday 3rd
December 10.30am this is an opportunity for us engage with some of the
traditions of Advent as we prepare and worship together.
This year Holy
Trinity, Yarram is trying something a bit different to get ready for
Christmas. On Sunday 3rd December at our 10.30am service you are
invited to join us as we get together to prepare for the season by making and
doing things together. You might like to help decorate our Advent Wreath,
or make a decoration for the Anglicare Giving Tree or learn a Song
for the Season or make a Gratitude Tree, or maybe you would like to
make a Take-home Advent Wreath. These things will form the first part of
our gathering and then we will join together for a simple time of worship. Later there will be the opportunity for morning tea
together.
We hope that this event ‘Advent for All’ will be a way for everyone, the young and the
young at heart to enjoy a time of creativity, worship and fellowship.

SEPTEMBER
THE MONTH OF HOSPITALITY
St
Paul reminds us that we are not to conform to this world but seek to discern
the will of God. Often when we receive an invitation to the home of others we
ask; ‘What can I bring?’ Or we might decide that such an invitation demands an
invitation to our house next time. That is the way our society works. We are in
a constant state of repaying people for their hospitability. As Christians we
can demonstrate our desire to live disciples by not expecting such repayment.
We give because we are confident that God will provide. We give because we have
already received more than we can ever repay to God. Generosity is right up
there with hospitality. In a parable Jesus’ reminds us that; ‘Just as we did it
to the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’ (Matthew
25:40)
Do not
neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have
entertained angels without knowing it. (Hebrews 13:2)

SEPTEMBER
THE MONTH OF HOSPITALITY
Invitation is the first step in
offering hospitality. Our diocesan vision is; ‘to grow in Christ, into the
fullness of human life and invite others to go with us on the journey.’ It
all starts with an invitation. The month of hospitality is designed to offer
opportunities for us to invite people to church, to events run by the church
and to invite people to share our homes and our table. As a parish we have
created a few events to help this to happen but we would also encourage
everyone to take this opportunity to invite people to share the joy of
fellowship with you in whatever way seems most appropriate and accessible.

MISSION NEWS:
The Winter
edition of the Mission Aviation Fellowship [M.A.F.) has arrived full of
interesting information as usual. Once again they are asking for donations
towards fuel to keep them flying their life saving missions. You may remember
we gathered money for jerry cans of fuel as a Father's Day gift last year. How
many jerry cans can we fill this year? .Any donation is welcome; rivets, tools,
windsocks, all help keep the planes in the air. During August we will have a
retiring collection for M.A.F. on the Mission table. Can you help?

FEEDBACK SOUGHT – the parish council would appreciate your feedback
regarding the future development of Holy Trinity. For some time there has been
talk of a new fellowship centre (hall) and senior housing on the site of the
current hall. NO decisions have been made. However, we would like to move
forward and establish a vision/plan for the future.
If units were built what features would you like?
Some areas for discussion are: one bedroom or two, privacy, car
parking, gardens, would you move in, should we proceed?
100 years ago our forebears were having similar conversations about the
future and the result is the current worship centre at Holy Trinity.
